John resided in Petersham where most of his children were born. John was a minute man at the first alarm at Concord and served at Dorchester heights, Ticonderoga, and Crown Point as a Lieutenant under Ethan Allen.
John moved to Staffordville, Ct. in 1773 and then onto Westmorland, N.H. were the first record of him appears in 1785. John and family settled on the hill near the Chesterfield line ( near the McAdam Rd.) on a farm long owned by his desendants.
